Marine generators & propulsion

Gensets that start every time and a drive train that runs true — the two systems that decide whether a boat is usable or merely afloat.

Marine generators & gensets

Air conditioning, refrigeration, watermakers and domestic loads all depend on the genset, and in this climate it works hard. With a career in HVAC and electrical engineering behind the work, generator problems are familiar ground.

  • Servicing, impellers, filters, belts and cooling
  • Starting, charging and control-panel faults
  • Output, AVR and distribution problems
  • Sound shield, mount and exhaust issues
  • New genset sizing, supply and installation

Propulsion & drive train

Vibration, noise and premature wear almost always trace back to the drive train. We assess it as a system rather than replacing parts one at a time.

  • Shaft alignment, couplings and bearings
  • Stern gland and seal service
  • Gearbox and control faults
  • Propeller condition, fit and pitch issues
  • Engine mounts and vibration diagnosis
  • Sterndrive and outboard leg service

Air conditioning and refrigeration

Marine air conditioning and refrigeration is not carried out in house — but it is not a dead end either. We work with Marine Cool in Grenada, a specialist we know and trust, and can arrange and coordinate the work rather than leaving you to find someone.

Capt. Benn’s own background is in HVAC engineering, so the diagnosis and the brief that reaches the specialist come from someone who understands the system.

Generator down? Vibration under way?

Tell us the make, the model and what it is doing. We will come to the boat.
